Lost Canyon- Capernaum Style

Camp, as always, was a jam-packed week full of adventure and fun!  Our campers had the opportunity to try things they had never done before, be wild, goofy, and crazy, and some even conquered a fear they never thought they could.   We had dance parties, sang songs, and played outrageous games, however (from the majority of students I talked to), their hands down favorite part of camp was club.  Club was a time set aside everyday that we were able to take a break from all the camp activities and hear a message from God’s word.  Our speaker Dave did an excellent job of sharing personal stories and stories from the bible that helped explain what God’s love is like, and what it means to have a relationship with him.  I believe that both campers and leaders took something very valuable away from the time we spent at camp.  It was incredible to see God at work in the lives of so many people!

March Madness: Carnival Night

One of the things we started doing during March Madness is Carnival Night. We had a number of amazing volunteers from all over Southern California come to help run the booths. Six small groups from Saddleback Church came to help, as well as a group of high school students from South Central Young Life, and a few volunteers from Azusa Pacific University. Sarah Field, a local photographer, volunteered her services for a Photo Booth that night which was a huge hit! Along with the overflow of volunteers, we had a number of people donate games to play for the evening and materials for other booths. We had a Wii dancing booth, Pie Your Leader booth, Bowling, Face Painting and so much more!  Check out our pictures of the booths and the awesome Photo Booth pictures

Craziness at the High Rollers Capernaum Club

Club this week was a blast! Our students participated in some crazy games... Including a donut eating contest, and a shaving cream to the face/Cheeto toss! We rocked out to some tunes led by Dave, and ended the night by hearing a message on forgiveness from one of our leaders Mark. It was a great way to end the month of February, and now we are ready for March madness!!!

Throwing bologna at our crazy leaders, Jordan and Kyle!

Mark, Teresa, and Jason trying to eat donuts on a string... With no hands!

Valentines Day With OC Capernaum

Last Wednesday, High Rollers and Capernaum Beyond met together to enjoy a Valentines day dinner. We started off the evening with making Valentines Day Cards and then spent the majority of the evening sharing a Valentines Day dinner together.
We were blessed to be served in a number of different ways, which made the evening possible. Parents, leaders and friends of Young Life donated pasta dishes, caesar salad, garlic bread, dessert, sparkling cider, and water bottles. We were also blessed to be served by a small group of high school girls from Saddleback Church, who prepared each plate, served our meals and waited on them.
This made the evening especially nice because it enabled leaders to share and enjoy the meal with our friends. A little something extra was given to us when a barbershop quartet happened to be at the church and volunteered to sing a few numbers for us! It was quite the treat.
And what would Valentines day be without a few smooth lines? At the end of our evening, a few of our fancy friends shared their best pick-up lines with the rest of the group. We were thrilled the evening went so well and were blessed to have so many people willing to help make the night happen!
