Our Week at Oakbridge!

This summer's Oakbridge trip was easily one of the best camp trips I have ever been a part of. From the kids all getting along, to the leaders doing an absolutely amazing job, to the camp staff… it was incredible.

We took 19 kids this year, and of those 19, 6 kids said "yes" to Jesus for the first time ever, and 10 kids rededicated their lives to Jesus that week.

Please watch the following video and take a look at the pics to get a glimpse at what a week at WyldLife camp looks like! We will be going to winter camp this November 20-22, and then back again next summer (we will let you know the dates ASAP)!

About to have one of the best weeks of our lives!

Move Me Like the Ocean- Kyle Reynolds

Kyle Reynolds is one of our awesome Wyldlife leaders.
He is also a very talented musician.
Kyle is leaving this next year to work on music full-time.

Kyle recently wrote a song that was inspired by his Young Life story.
I asked him to write up an explanation on how the song came about. Below is his response.....

"Young Life has been apart of my life ever since I can remember and I've recently been fortunate enough to start leading music at Young Life camps. After seeing so many kids lives changed last year while playing music at Oakbridge, whether it was during "Say So" or just talking to kids throughout the week and seeing the Lord totally change their hearts, I was inspired to write this song. This song is about the kid  who is sitting in the back of the club room. This song is about me, you, and the person who has decided to go all in regardless of what is ahead and what they've been through. I hope this song can be sung and listened to as a prayer asking God to move us like the ocean. I want to step out of my comfort zone and allow God to fill me up with His strength and courage; and not rely on my own. In the chorus it says Move Me Like the Ocean, Move Me Like the Ocean, I still have my doubts, but it's time to step out in the ocean. I think this is something we can wake up every morning and ask the Lord. Everyday we have the choice to step out in the ocean, the unknown, and trust the Lord. All we have to do is say yes."

The lyrics to the song are below along with a link to his iTunes account.
This month proceeds from the song will go back to Young Life. So take a moment and check out Kyle.

MOVE ME LIKE THE OCEAN

I know there’s  more to this at least that’s what I’ve been told
I feel alone and I’m so sick of it I need a place to call home

Can we forgive our past, lets go and not look back

move me like the ocean
Ocean
without a doubt you’re pulling me out of the ocean

Clouded by racing thoughts, I feel so far away
Told myself I’m doing fine, but was that just another lie to say

Can we forgive our past, lets go and not look back

move me like the ocean
Ocean
without a doubt you’re pulling me out of the ocean

move me like the ocean
Ocean
without a doubt you’re pulling me out of the ocean

Marco Club Takes Over Camp!

What a weekend. We had the pleasure of bringing three boys and five girls to three days of crazy fun at Oakbridge Wyldlife camp. Along with a lot of fun and laughs we were lucky enough to engage in discussion about who Jesus is and what he's done for us.between the ping-pong and foosball and pool table and air hockey and skate park we definitely had our hands full but we took it all on and had a blast. Our Wyldlife camp is nestled in the hills of Ramona California just perfectly set the stage to let these kids our friends process life and questions about who Jesus is without any distractions that they would have at home. No phones, no computers, no TV, no Internet, just good old-fashioned fun.

Marco club at Oakbridge Younglife camp!

What an amazing week!!! Our Wyldlife crew just got back from 6 amazing days at Younglife's Oakbridge camp tucked away in the hills of Ramona California. This camp is such an amazing place! There are tons of activities to do every day and Games and skits through out the day. Most importantly every night at Club we here from one of our Younglife speakers about who Jesus is and what he did for us while he was on this earth and what he did for us on the cross. Amidst all the craziness and games and fun Jesus is what's at the core of Younglife camp. Our crew had some super fun times and created great memories but we all learned more and grew closer to God at this camp and it was such a joy to be a part of. Attached are just a few pictures. hope you enjoy!

Oakbridge!

Last week we took 15 kids from Ladera Ranch to Oakbridge, a Young Life camp outside of Ramona CA.

It was amazing!

For most of these kids this was their first camp experience, and for all of them it was one of the best weeks of their lives. From the food, to the rides, to the funny skits and games, the kids were totally overwhelmed in the best ways.

This was also a chance for these kids to connect with us leaders, and more important, Jesus. The speaker did such an amazing job making the Gospel accessible to middle schoolers, and had illustrations that really let them see how much the Creator of the universe loves them.

Camp is Coming- Dana Hills

As we announced the camp dates our students filled with excitement. This year there are new kids too who are already looking forward to the "best week of their life".

As leaders and people who support Young Life, we can do alot to prepare. We work towards this all year actually. That week away to really get a chance to talk to the kids about Jesus away from their every day distractions. So much growth comes out of that week. Kids who have never talked to God before pray on that trip.

It is incredible!

What we really need to do is spend these few months in prayer. As you think of Dana Young Life from time to time, I ask you to join me in praying for our students and that week at camp.

Pray for:
  • Kids to have an encounter with the Lord that forever changes them. To truly know God's love.
  • They will desire to follow Him more than anything this world offers
  • They will feel comfortable opening up to their leaders and sharing their burdens with us for our leaders
  • Funds

Thank you for all your love and prayers that help carry this ministry.

Capernaum Weekend Winter Camp 2013

Last weekend we had the opportunity to join close to 300 students at Young Life's Oakbridge camp in the San Diego mountains. We took 15 Capernaum students and leaders to experience a weekend full of fun and learning about the free gift God gave each of us on Christmas. A few highlights of the weekend include messy games (kids got to throw shaving cream at their leaders, what's not to like about that?!), dance parties during club, and cabin time where we had the chance to debrief together as a group and hear what our students thought about the message that was shared at club. It always blows my mind to see how differently each of us (and our students) connect with God. Hearing what our students had to say about how much they know God loves them and what was on their hearts was a personal highlight of mine. It really was a privilege to spend the weekend with our Capernaum students at winter camp.
