Marco club at Oakbridge Younglife camp!

What an amazing week!!! Our Wyldlife crew just got back from 6 amazing days at Younglife's Oakbridge camp tucked away in the hills of Ramona California. This camp is such an amazing place! There are tons of activities to do every day and Games and skits through out the day. Most importantly every night at Club we here from one of our Younglife speakers about who Jesus is and what he did for us while he was on this earth and what he did for us on the cross. Amidst all the craziness and games and fun Jesus is what's at the core of Younglife camp. Our crew had some super fun times and created great memories but we all learned more and grew closer to God at this camp and it was such a joy to be a part of. Attached are just a few pictures. hope you enjoy!

Ladera Ranch Laser Tag

A couple weekends ago I had the chance to play laser tag with 16 middle schoolers and a new volunteer leader, Matt Wright, from Ladera Ranch.

I forgot how much fun laser tag could be!!

But more importantly, this really gave me the chance to get to know some of the guys as we compared scores and investigated our score sheets seeing who shot who. I felt like I really started getting to know some of the boys there, many of whom I'd never met before.

After laser tag we are pizza, and had a "mini club", meaning, we played a game and I got to share a bit about why I am so excited about starting WyldLife... In case you didn't know, it's because it gives me the opportunity to share Jesus and his incredible love with them!

I compared God and Santa, using the song "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" to show how creepy Santa is, and how loving God is. I talked about how God is not making a list or waiting for us to mess up, but that he couldn't stand being separated from us so he came closer, through Jesus, and showed us how to live life the best way possible.

It was a really great time and I had several parents email me the following week to let me know how excited they were about WyldLife!

Please continue praying that we are able to get more invested in kids lives, that we are able tower wth kids between now and the next semester, and that support, both financially and in other ways, continues to come in.

Thank you so much!

Brand New Ladera Ranch WL Club

I set this blog up just recently to be a way for donors to stay up to date with what I am up to and how WyldLife Ladera is going.

"This last Saturday we had our very first event, a bonfire at Hole in the Fence beach!

We had 13 kids come, Jade, Caitlin, Candice and I got a chance to meet and talk with 5 parents, we chowed down on s'mores and played a little night time ultimate football.
It was a blast.

Both the kids and the parents are more excited than ever about getting WyldLife officially started in Lader Ranch! I even had one of the boys text me later that night saying he was going to bring some girls to the next thing we do!

We are planning a few more events before Christmas: laser tag, and a scavenger hunt/Christmas party are both being planned.

If you could continue to pray as we get things going, it would be really appreciated. It seems that God has some great plans for YL in Ladera.

Specifically, we could use prayer in/for the following areas: fundraising, recruiting and training more leaders, getting a solid support team of parents, and finding a way to get on campus.

I am both excited and hopeful for what the next semester will bring, and can't wait to get to know some of these kids and begin sharing the love of Jesus with them."

Lost Canyon- Capernaum Style

Camp, as always, was a jam-packed week full of adventure and fun!  Our campers had the opportunity to try things they had never done before, be wild, goofy, and crazy, and some even conquered a fear they never thought they could.   We had dance parties, sang songs, and played outrageous games, however (from the majority of students I talked to), their hands down favorite part of camp was club.  Club was a time set aside everyday that we were able to take a break from all the camp activities and hear a message from God’s word.  Our speaker Dave did an excellent job of sharing personal stories and stories from the bible that helped explain what God’s love is like, and what it means to have a relationship with him.  I believe that both campers and leaders took something very valuable away from the time we spent at camp.  It was incredible to see God at work in the lives of so many people!

Dana's Last Club of 2013

About 2 weeks ago we had our last club of the year! I can't put into words how amazing this year has been. Despite normal life challenges and difficult circumstances, Jesus continually provided for our club and led us. He brought so many new faces to Young Life. We have 23 kids coming to camp this year, most have never been before! I am so excited to watch them fall in love with Jesus. I am praying they truly come to know him at camp in 2 weeks. We are so blessed, the kids showed up and now we have a fun adventure right around the corner!

To our donors, Thank you for all your support this year, we could not have done it with out the support of our amazing partners so THANK YOU for making this year possible! You have no idea what an impact you make, from $1 a month to $100. We are grateful for any prayer. It all matters. It all makes this possible. These kids have an opportunity to meet Jesus because of people like you! Thank you for showing them grace by believing in them. We could not do this without you.

Thank you,  thank you, THANK YOU!

Dana Hills- Lost Canyon 2013

After a year of hard work we finally took our kids to camp. We took 19 students. Most of the kids had never been to camp before. It was an amazing experience to watch God work in their life & draw close to them. Each student had so much fun and I could tell they felt genuinely loved. I love what camp gives the kids. A place to be accepted, welcomed, cared for, and love unconditionally. It is a place where the love of Christ is everywhere.

Wyldlife Camp 2013

Hello all! I dont even know where to begin on how to explain the past week so im going to do my best and i hope that some of the pictures will do it justice! We just spent the last 6 days at our Wyldlife camp just outside of the town of Ramona! We had 16 jr. high students and 4 leaders go down from our Wyldlife club here from San Juan Capistrano! The week was filled with crazy messy games, water wars, skateparks, ropes courses, high dive competeitions at the pool, lots of ping pong and way to much laughing and not nearly enough sleep !!! haha. but the best part of the week was amidst all of this our jr. high kids were introduced to the gosple of Jesus Christ and what it looks like to start a real relationship with him!

Big Air with Dana Hills Young Life

Since we took the kids to Big Air a few months ago they have been asking on a weekly basis to go back. The kids had a blast! The car ride there is just as fun as actually being there. It is a great bonding experience. The kids spent most of their time on the dodge ball court. I love when we are able to give the kids an opportunity to just be a kid, you never know what they might have going on at home. It brings me so much joy to see them just having fun & acting there age. A lot of kids these days are forced to grow way to fast due to difficult circumstances. I pray they feel loved and like they have a safe place to belong where they can fun just being themselves. Please pray for them all to really have a life changing experience with Jesus when we leave to camp in about a month now!

Dodgeball With All of OC Young Life

This past month we went to a region wide club where all the kids played Dodge ball. The kids got really into and had a really good time. It was a great bonding experience for all of us. The boys made it to the semi-finals, but the girls did not do as well (ok, so we lost every game). It was a really fun night that gave us new memories!

High Rollers- James' Intro

Club has been a blast these past few weeks.  I’ve especially been stoked on having some new kids coming.  It’s awesome when our students invite their friends because they love coming to club so much.  This week we had James come.  I met James at Tesoro a few weeks ago and invited him to club.  I was really hoping he would come that next Wednesday, but he didn’t.  About a month passed and still no James.  So when I saw him walk in to club last week I was pumped, to say the least!  We made sure to introduce him to everyone and get him on stage for the upfront game.  He totally killed it in the pie-eating contest, and you could tell he was feeling like a million bucks with everyone cheering him on.  When the night was over he gave me a huge hug and told me he’d be back next week.  Can’t wait to see him on Wednesday!

Big Air with the High Rollers

We took a week off of club for spring break, but luckily a few of our high roller friends agreed to hangout with us during their vacation time :) We were lucky enough to get 10 free passes to the Big Air trampoline park in El Toro, so we decided to make a night of it.  We started there and spent a fun filled hour jumping, playing dodgeball, slam dunking, and doing tricks in the foam pit.  By the end of our time limit we had worked up an appetite, so we headed over to in-n-out and ended the night by hanging out and eating burgers!

Jimbo catching some air!

David and Cameron challenging each other to a jump contest (I'm pretty sure David won)

The whole crew from left to right: David, Me (Tayren), Brett, Caleb, Ashley, Cameron Burns, Cam Kee, and Jimbo.  Dream team!!!

The boys... all jumped out.  And ready for some in-n-out.

American Idol Club

American Idol club is always the most anticipated club of the semester, and this year was no different.  Last Wednesday's club was a hit.  The performers, judges, and even the audience had a blast!! It is so fun to see our high roller friends take the stage and feel like a star. It is amazing to see their faces light up as the audience cheers them on and at the end of their performance receive a round of compliments from our leaders (impersonating the idol judges).  If you didn't make it to American Idol club this year, put it on your calendar for next year NOW and be there.  I promise you won't be disappointed!!!!

March Madness: Carnival Night

One of the things we started doing during March Madness is Carnival Night. We had a number of amazing volunteers from all over Southern California come to help run the booths. Six small groups from Saddleback Church came to help, as well as a group of high school students from South Central Young Life, and a few volunteers from Azusa Pacific University. Sarah Field, a local photographer, volunteered her services for a Photo Booth that night which was a huge hit! Along with the overflow of volunteers, we had a number of people donate games to play for the evening and materials for other booths. We had a Wii dancing booth, Pie Your Leader booth, Bowling, Face Painting and so much more!  Check out our pictures of the booths and the awesome Photo Booth pictures
