First Ladera Ranch Campaigners

Our first campaigners meeting was such a great time. These kids braved Storm Watch 2014 to come and have breakfast, and talk a little about Jesus. We even had 4 new faces come out, and our first girl!

We will be meeting every Friday morning at the park connected to LRMS at 7:15 to eat doughnuts, talk about life, and learn a little bit more about Jesus and following him.

I am very excited about what God is doing in Ladera Ranch, and so thankful for this morning. Going into this meeting I had been feeling a lot of pressure and doubting myself... It was so good to experience God's love, care, and sovereignty this morning. It was such a wonderful reminder that God can and will do so much more than we expect, that he cares about kids so much more than I do, and that he really can use us at our weakest to do really wonderful things for his Kingdom... what a gift.

So thank you for praying for WyldLife in Ladera Ranch. I'm so excited to see what God has in store.

Skits- Dana Hills Young Life

Young Life loves to use humor as a way to minister to kids. Laughter breaks down walls and helps kids be themselves.

Recently we have added skits to our clubs, something young life is known for. There will be different run on characters that lead the games.

Our kids have been LOVING it. The skits have been adding even more fun to our clubs.

Marco Forester Wyldlife

Hello all I hope you're week is going well. Just wanted to send out an update from our last Wyldlife club. As always it was filled with funny games good times and growing relationships with our young friends so that we can walk along side of them Through this crazy stage in life. In our time going though the bible I was stoked to talk about what it looks like to stand up for their faith and look out after the ones that are less fortunate then us.

Wyldlife- Marco Forester

Hello all I hope you're week is going well! Excited to share a little update about wyldlife club this week!
We introduced music to club and it was a blast! The kids loved it and we had a great old time.

One of our leaders plays guitar and piano so we were able to let loose and have some fun! We also had the pleasure of hearing one of our leaders Riley Murphy speak on my he is going to be gone doing missions work for the next six months.

He did a great job and we look forward to his return so he can share all that he has learned on his travels.

Beyond Capernaum Update

We've had a great Fall Semester at Beyond Young Life. Our awesome, committed leaders have set the tone for a welcoming, high-energy environment that fills up each Wednesday with our friends. We've enjoyed getting to know some new people coming from the Glenwood Home in Laguna Beach, as well as strengthening relationships with familiar friends.  During our club talks we've been studying the Heroes of the Faith, based on Hebrews 11. We've even been visited by our very own superheroes each week (Captain Mismatch, Ironing Man, and Supremely Fast Man) that have comically helped to reinforce the stories we've learned. One of the highlights of our clubs are the small group time that we have each week to discuss the club talk, share about our lives and pray for each other.

Some other highlights of the semester include our Halloween dance party and during Thanksgiving we rallied together to participate in Operation Christmas Child. We put together 16 boxes of toys and supplies that will be sent to children all over the world for Christmas. It was a blessing to serve others and know we are making a difference in the lives of others in Jesus' name! We're looking forward to our last gathering of the semester where we'll watch a Christmas movie while snuggled in our pajamas.

San Juan Hills- The Spot

Every Tuesday morning, I wake up before sunrise.  Now, I’ve never been a morning person, and I probably never will be.  I’m still more likely to be falling asleep at sunrise than waking up.  Once per week, that all changes.

On Tuesdays, I skip the normal routine and take a drive to a small breakfast place across the train tracks.  There are usually a few patrons drinking some coffee in the back corner and a pair of cops sits in the only booth eating their choice of breakfast.  I sit down and watch the sunrise through the window over a cup of tea.

At around 6:30 am,  few high school boys make their way through the doors one at a time.  High fives are exchanged, stories are shared, bagels are devoured.  I catch up with these friends of mine and talk to them about life.  Sometimes I share from the Bible, sometimes we open with prayer.  No matter what, we always share time together.  I drive one or two kids to school, and then I go home and take a nap - it’s tradition.

The Bagel Shack is just a spot where I meet a bunch of boys once a week, but it’s our spot, and we’ll keep waking up early to keep it that way.

Ladera Ranch is getting ready for lift off!

Next week we will be starting both campaigners AND club in Ladera Ranch.
After having a parent meeting, several leader meetings, and spending time praying about when to start, we feel like the time has come.

This coming Monday at 7:15am, in the park connected to Ladera Ranch Middle School, we will be having our first campaigners meeting. This will be a time to eat doughnuts together, share about our lives together, and start exploring the book of Mark together. I pray that as we get to read through Mark, and learn more about Jesus, we will begin to see lives changed, relationships grow much deeper, and a solid core group of boys develope that are excited about living life with Jesus and with each other. My hope is that this group grows closer to each other, and closer to God through starting off the week together, learning about who Jesus is, and what it looks like to follow him.

Then, Friday night at 7:30, we will be starting the Ladera Ranch WyldLife club! The other leaders and I (Luke) are so excited about starting this adventure and cannot wait to see what God has in store. Next week we will be eating pizza, playing games, and learning a bit about who God really is and how he loves us all more than we could ever know.

So please be praying these next two weeks! We are so excited about this, but want to make sure we are giving it to God, and resting in the fact that he cares about the kids of Ladera more than we do, and even that he cares about us more than we care about ourselves... He is in control, and the glory is His... I'm just very thankful he has invited me into his mission in Ladera Ranch.

Marco Forester Wyldlife- Eat the Menu

Hello all! Hope you are well!
We kicked off out spring semester with the world famous EAT THE MENU CLUB!!!!
The gist is we buy like 5 to 6 of each item off of the Mcdonalds value menu! Teams of 5 kids see who can finish all of the food on their trays first! It was a blast and I'm glad to say nobody threw up! Haha.

Hope you have a great week and am very greatful for you're prayer and support.
Here are a few photos of the chaos! Enjoy!

Dana Hills Young Life- Contact Work

Contact work is a huge part of what makes Young Life different from other youth ministries. We go to where the kids are and build relationships. This involves trips to campus and going to many sporting events. This past week one of my girls invited me to the formal pictures. I had a chance to meet a ton of her friends I'd never met before. The relationships begin before a kid ever attends a club, hopefully making them feel more welcomed if they do come.
