Ladera Ranch Laser Tag

A couple weekends ago I had the chance to play laser tag with 16 middle schoolers and a new volunteer leader, Matt Wright, from Ladera Ranch.

I forgot how much fun laser tag could be!!

But more importantly, this really gave me the chance to get to know some of the guys as we compared scores and investigated our score sheets seeing who shot who. I felt like I really started getting to know some of the boys there, many of whom I'd never met before.

After laser tag we are pizza, and had a "mini club", meaning, we played a game and I got to share a bit about why I am so excited about starting WyldLife... In case you didn't know, it's because it gives me the opportunity to share Jesus and his incredible love with them!

I compared God and Santa, using the song "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" to show how creepy Santa is, and how loving God is. I talked about how God is not making a list or waiting for us to mess up, but that he couldn't stand being separated from us so he came closer, through Jesus, and showed us how to live life the best way possible.

It was a really great time and I had several parents email me the following week to let me know how excited they were about WyldLife!

Please continue praying that we are able to get more invested in kids lives, that we are able tower wth kids between now and the next semester, and that support, both financially and in other ways, continues to come in.

Thank you so much!

Capernaum Weekend Winter Camp 2013

Last weekend we had the opportunity to join close to 300 students at Young Life's Oakbridge camp in the San Diego mountains. We took 15 Capernaum students and leaders to experience a weekend full of fun and learning about the free gift God gave each of us on Christmas. A few highlights of the weekend include messy games (kids got to throw shaving cream at their leaders, what's not to like about that?!), dance parties during club, and cabin time where we had the chance to debrief together as a group and hear what our students thought about the message that was shared at club. It always blows my mind to see how differently each of us (and our students) connect with God. Hearing what our students had to say about how much they know God loves them and what was on their hearts was a personal highlight of mine. It really was a privilege to spend the weekend with our Capernaum students at winter camp.

Beyond Capernaum Rocking

Our Capernaum Beyond group is rocking this year. Here are some pics from all the fun thats been happening over the last month. We have pictures from some of the games. The first shots are from a game were an Alka Selter tablet is on a leaders forehead and their teammate needs to make it disappear. The pics after that is from planning Charades. Our friends love this game. It actually gets everyone involved and is hilarious to watch. You'll also see some shots of leaders dresses up as various things, those are the skits leaders perform to help share the message and create more fun.

Brand New Ladera Ranch WL Club

I set this blog up just recently to be a way for donors to stay up to date with what I am up to and how WyldLife Ladera is going.

"This last Saturday we had our very first event, a bonfire at Hole in the Fence beach!

We had 13 kids come, Jade, Caitlin, Candice and I got a chance to meet and talk with 5 parents, we chowed down on s'mores and played a little night time ultimate football.
It was a blast.

Both the kids and the parents are more excited than ever about getting WyldLife officially started in Lader Ranch! I even had one of the boys text me later that night saying he was going to bring some girls to the next thing we do!

We are planning a few more events before Christmas: laser tag, and a scavenger hunt/Christmas party are both being planned.

If you could continue to pray as we get things going, it would be really appreciated. It seems that God has some great plans for YL in Ladera.

Specifically, we could use prayer in/for the following areas: fundraising, recruiting and training more leaders, getting a solid support team of parents, and finding a way to get on campus.

I am both excited and hopeful for what the next semester will bring, and can't wait to get to know some of these kids and begin sharing the love of Jesus with them."

Wyldlife With a Splash

Wyldife this week was a blast! Lots of fun games and good time spent with our leaders hanging with their young friends . One of our kids Parker even jumped in the pool fully clothed! Haha gotta love Jr. High kids! To reward the pool jump our leaders Kyle and Riley took Parker out for a Taco Bell dinner. We love encouraging jr high kids to actually be kids for a little bit longer!

Seeing the Fruit of our Work

Michela- one of the girls I've had the honor of getting to know through Young Life. She has become a little sister. Last night we worked together to start a Young Life lunch time club at Dana for this school year as a way to reach more kids and offer them a fun, safe place where they can get a glimpse of our God & his perfect love for us. It is exciting myself to be starting this, but the best part is Michela being the one to get it going. There is nothing better than watching one of my girls reach out so others can have the same opportunity to find Jesus through our ministry. It is amazing to watch one of our girls get that.

Wyldlife Club

This last week at wyldlife club was a blast! We had over 25 middle schoolers join us for a night of chaos and good times! Our first game was a fun "get to know you" game where you had to find a partner and stomp the top of their foot while holding hands! Our up front game got a little bit messy! Who Doesn't like messy games!!!! Girls had to feed the boys pudding from about 4 feet above them. Safe to say they were not very good shots! Haha

Roller Skating

Roller Skating
The whole region went rollerskating to kick off the school year! It was a Hawaiian club where the kids got to dress up. We had so much fun. It was a great chance for the new leaders to bond with our kids.

Dana Hills Starting Off With Tacos

Taco Night
We started the year off with a taco night for the kids! We tell them to show up, bring their friends, and we'll provide the tacos. There was a lot of laughter, fun, and excitement about the year to come.
